Within Dynamics CRM, entities are used to define and hold business data. An entity has a set of attributes and each attribute represents a data item of a particular type. Entities are like database tables, and the entity attributes correspond to the table columns. CRM has some built in entities such as Account, Contact, Lead, Opportunity etc. These built in entities are known as System Entities.
New entities can be created in Dynamics CRM to meet specific business requirements and are known as Custom Entities. Once created in Dynamics CRM each entity will have Fields, Forms, Views, Charts, Relationships, Business Rules and more. From the customisation menu, users can create new, and adjust existing, entities.
From the form editor (detailed below), authorised users can easily add fields and place them on the form. This makes it easy for trained users to tailor Dynamics CRM to the specific requirements of the business. Database applications can be created quickly, without the need for programming skills.
The video below demonstrates how to create a new entity in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
