Dynamics CRM - Getting Started with Personal Options

This blog looks at the typical Personal Options that should be configured by each user when they first start using Dynamics CRM. The settings are defined per user in CRM and cannot be changed centrally, once the user has been created.  

From the top menu, select Options.

As well as selecting their home page we recommend that the user considers:

  • Set Records Per Page to 250 – worth seeing more on every page if you have a good internet connection
  • Time Zone to GMT (or appropriate time zone) 
  • Currency to Pound Sterling (or appropriate currency)

Each user will need to set the format to their personal preferences e.g. United Kingdom. This will impact dates, number formatting etc.  This is commonly set to US, in line with the default System Settings. 

  • Current Format to English (United Kingdom)

 Dynamics CRM can occasionally throw a scripting error, resulting in a popup box requesting permission to send the details to Microsoft. We recommend the privacy option is updated to prevent this box from being seen.

  • Set error notification to Auto send

  • Check - Allow other Microsoft Dynamics CRM users to send email on your behalf - without this workflows may not be able send emails from the user
  •  Track – Email messages in response to CRM email - you may wish to consider other options, but please remember that others may be able to see your emails in CRM.
  •  Check – Create Contacts - useful where you track emails from Contacts that are not already in CRM
